Col. Gerry Pulohanan has assumed as the new chief of the Human Rights Office of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on Friday at Camp Aguinaldo.

The change of command ceremony was presided by AFP Vice Chief Vice Adm. Narciso Vingson. Pulohanan replaced Maj. Gen. Jose Antonio Carlos Motril, who assumed as the chief of the office of the Internal Auditor, the AFP said in a statement.

The AFP Human Rights Office is the main office that takes “the lead role in all human rights concerns involving AFP personnel.”

Pulohanan served as Air Judge Advocate of the Philippine Air Force; and deputy chief of the Ethical Standards and Public Accountability at the General Headquarters; and Force Legal Adviser of the United Nations.

He is a graduate of Bachelor of Laws and Letters from the San Sebastian College. He also took International Law of Military Operations Course from Defense Institute of International Studies and Legislative Support System course from National Defense College of the Philippines.
