From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio (Feb 23): DIMINISHING GROUP  |  NPAs continue to surrender in Davao

CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – The strength of the communist terrorist New People’s Army (NPA) in the Davao region continue to crumble with the surrender of at least 238 fighters recently.
  

According to Col. Erwin Bernard Neri, Commander, 1001st Infantry Brigade, who escorted the surrenderees in their tour of Metro Manila and their dinner with President Rodrigo Duterte, 60 of them are regular fighters while 152 are members of the Militia ng Bayan. They also surrendered 104 assorted firearms.

The surrenderees form part of the NPAs operating in Compostela Valley, Agusan del Sur and Agusan del Norte. The Armed Forces of the Philippines is now focusing its anti-insurgency operations in Mindanao, concentrating on Northern Mindanao, Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte.

The surrenderees are now enjoying livelihood and financial assistance under the Comprehensive Local Integration Program and other financial assistance offered by the government. AES / MCAG
