From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Oct 24): NEW LEADERSHIP | MGen Galileo Kintanar assumes role as CGPAF
CAMP GEN EMILIO AGUINALDO, Quezon City (DWDD) – Major Gen. Galileo Gerard Kintanar Jr. will assume today as the new Air Force chief, succeeding Lt. Gen. Edgar Fallorina, who will retire from the service just a week before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
Kintanar is the 35th chief of the Air Force picked by the President and AFP Commander-in-Chief Rodrigo Duterte during today’s scheduled retirement and installation ceremonies.
Kintanar is a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985, he will succeed Fallorina, a member of PMA Class of 1983, who will retire on November 1.
The appointment of Kintanar as the new commanding general of the Air Force was confirmed on Monday by Armed Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Ano.
Kintanar will assume the chief post of the Air Force from being the commander of Armed Forces Western Command (WESCOM), a position that he has held since August this year.
According to AFP Chief of Staff Gen Eduardo Año, Gen Kintanar is a silent worker and a strategic thinker. A tried and tested Ace pilot.
Gen Año believes that Gen Kintanar will continue with the reform initiatives and programs of the Philippine Air Force started by his predecessors particularly of Lt Gen Fallorino. The success of the AFP, in particular the Air Force is the collaboration of its officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees who works as one under a team leader…in this case… Lt Gen Kintanar.
