MANILA (DWDD) – The government’s campaign versus the Daesh-inspired Maute terror group in Marawi intensifies.
The offensive on the eve of Eid’l Adha has been among the toughest so far. Troops are working to clear the remaining areas where the enemy is desperately holding out.
In yesterday’s operations, the AFP lost 3 good men and incurred 52 wounded mostly from Improvised Explosive Device’s, although most were slightly injured and just a few that were seriously hurt.
Following a short pause early today, during the morning prayers to give due respect to the solemnity and significance of this day, the operations continued without let up.
As of today, September 1, Day 102 of the siege, data have shown that:
Maute members killed: 620
Recovered firearms: 675
Civilians killed: 45
Civilians rescued: 1,728
