There is no presence of the Maute Group in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and in Region 2, military officials said.

Capt. Jefferson Somera, head of the 5th Infantry Division (5ID) Public Affairs Office, said the public should not worry as there is no presence of Maute Group in their jurisdiction.

There are two active infantry brigades under the 5ID operating in CAR and Region 2.

He said the military in the area was placed on full alert to prevent violence from erupting in the two regions.

Major General Paul Atal, 5ID commander, urged the public to help law enforcers by providing information about suspicious individuals or activities for proper action.

The 5ID issued a statement Wednesday night condemning the Maute Group for the atrocities that flared in Marawi City on Tuesday, forcing many residents to flee.
