From the Philippine News Agency (Apr 11): (Update) Dela Rosa: 1 Army killed, 2 others wounded in firefight with suspected ASG in Bohol
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Tuesday confirmed that an Army soldier was killed and two others -- an Army and a policeman -- were wounded in an ongoing firefight against suspected Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandits in Inabanga, Bohol.
"So far, I had just talked to our man on the ground -- Bohol provincial police director Senior Supt. Pipoy Natividad -- and he reported to me that meron ng isang Army na patay, isang wounded na Army at isang wounded na pulis (in the encounter in Bohol)," said Dela Rosa in an ambush interview.
The PNP chief noted that this is a joint operation launched early Tuesday morning.
Dela Rosa said the encounter was against suspected members of the ASG as the area has not yet been cleared such that the firefight is still ongoing.
As of now, he said, these lawless elements are suspected ASG members based on the statement of the men on the ground, adding that, it is not yet known what's the situation on the enemy's side.
