From Malaya Business Insight (May 1): Cop shot dead in Rizal
A POLICE officer was shot dead by unidentified men riding tandem on a motorcycle in Rodriguez, Rizal on Saturday night.
Supt. Hector Grigaldo, local police chief, said PO1 Jun Lawas, 33, a resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City, died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Grigaldo said Lawas was on duty as a Community and Police Committee officer in Amityville, Kasiglahan Village, Barangay San Jose when a motorcycle arrived and its driver and back rider opened fire.
Recovered at the scene were seven spent shells from still undetermined type of firearms.
