From the Philippine Information Agency (Feb 10): 4ID condemns terror attack in Bukidnon
CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City -- Army’s 4th Infantry Division has condemned the terror attack in Talakag town, Bukidnon, saying no letup in pursuit operation.
“This is another terroristic attack perpetrated by the New People’s Army (NPA) organized crime group. They again attacked a legitimate company undertaking development projects, which will cause unwarranted delay in projects that are supposed to uplift the condition of our people. Moreover, they killed another innocent civilian,” 4ID commander MGen Benjamin R Madrigal Jr. said.
Madrigal also said he has already directed its battalions that there will be no let up on their pursuit operation.
“We will not let these terror group sow fear among our people in Bukidnon,"said the 4ID commander.
NPA terrorists stormed Brgy Tikalaan, Talakag, Bukidnon at around 5 a.m. on February 9, 2017, killed one resident, burned four heavy equipment and a generator set, carted five motorcycles from the commuters, and kidnapped one Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel and another unidentified person.
According to the report from the PNP investigators of Talakag Municipal Police Station, the NPAs are on board two dump trucks and one L300 van when they raided Lito Siagan Atoy at his residence in the said community.
Some of the NPA were wearing camouflage uniform with National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) caps and introduced themselves as NBI agents when they took Atoy with them going to Km28 of the said barangay.
The incident happened hours after the said NPA carted away two dump trucks owned by Mindanao Rock Corporation.
Meanwhile, at around 6:00 a.m, other NPA members are conducting checkpoint along the highway in Km24 of the said Barangay. They were able to flag down and kidnap one PNP personnel in the person of Police Officer 2 Anthony Natividad assigned with the Kalilangan Municipal Police Station and another unidentified person. Moreover, it said that the NPAs took away five motorcycles from the commuters.
At around 7:00 a.m, the NPA burned down the two dump trucks, one generator set, and another two heavy equipment, one mixer and a backhoe, that are also owned by Mindanao Rock Corporation, in Km 28. Said equipment are used to construct the roads in that area.
Hours later, they (NPA) decided to kill Atoy at the same location and after which they withdrew towards the direction of Lanao del Sur area bringing along with them their two captives.
Col Eric C Vinoya, 403rd Infantry Brigade commander immediately directed the 1st Special Forces Battalion to have a close coordination with the PNP and conduct pursuit operation against the perpetrators. (4ID/PA)
