Two truckloads of rice, consisting of 600 sacks of the grain, were hijacked and taken away, while another truck was torched by armed men suspected to be communist rebels in two separate incidents this week in Compostela Valley, a military report reaching Camp Aguinaldo on Friday said.

On December 15, at around 7:40 p.m., unidentified armed men stopped the driver and helper of a Forward truck at gunpoint and then torched it in the boundary of Sitios Tugop and Siranganan in Barangay Kingking in Pantukan town.

A day before the burning incident, unidentified armed men reportedly hijacked two truckloads of rice in Barangay Poblacion in Mawab town.

The trucks, sporting license plate numbers YCH 266 and GDC 599, were owned by a certain Tamil Gentugaya.

As of Friday, military intelligence reports indicated, the two hijacked trucks were apparently brought to Barangay Calabcab in Maco town.

Investigators said the perpetrators of the two incidents could be the same group led by a certain Rex Comania, alias Doming and alias Bisaya, allegedly members of the Militia ng Bayan of the Guerrilla Front 2 of the New People's Army (NPA).
