DWDD: ONE WITH NATURE | SolCom launches “endangered tree sanctuary”

From DWDD AFP Civil Relations Service Radio Website (Nov 22): ONE WITH NATURE | SolCom launches “endangered tree sanctuary”

The Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) launched a pilot project called the “Endangered Tree Sanctuary” (ENTRESA) through a tree planting activity today   at the SOLCOM-AFP headquarters, Camp Nakar, this city. Maj. Virgilio J. Perez Jr. (INF)-PA said more or less 200 seedlings of endangered trees will be planted inside the camp.

He added that endangered tree sanctuary is one of the major thrusts of SOLCOM Commander Lt. Gen. Ferdinand F. Quilla and this is a support of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to environmental protection and preservation program of the national government.

“The purpose of the project is to promote the protection and preservation of endangered trees and contributes in mitigating the effects of global warming” said Perez.

SOLCOM-AFP is inviting other government offices  to join and witness the event.
