From the Manila Bulletin (Nov 14): 4 soldiers hurt in Lamitan blast
Injured soldiers were patrolling when hit by IED
Four patrolling soldiers were hurt after an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in Lamitan City, Basilan on Monday, November 14.
Army Major Filemon Tan, AFP Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) spokesman, said a section of the 14th Special Reaction Company-Special Operations Command (SRC-SOC) under Sgt. Bala were on foot patrol when they were hit by an IED at about 9:15 a.m. at Barangay Sabong.
The victims were brought to Lamitan Hospital for treatment before being airlifted later to Camp Navarro General Hospital in Zamboanga City on board an SF Condor of the 4th Special Forces Battalion.
The military is investigating the incident.
Troops continue to assist the police in the conduct of investigation and pursuit operations.
