From the Philippine News Agency (Sep 29): Dela Rosa: Foreign source of guns of ASG not yet verified
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald Dela Rosa has not received any report about the movements of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in importing guns from a foreign source or any other country.
In an ambush interview late Wednesday evening, Dela Rosa said he has not monitored any report the terrorist ASG has a foreign source who supplies them with firearms.
"So far wala pa akong natanggap na information tungkol dyan, wala pa akong na-monitor," Dela Rosa said.
The PNP chief said that both the intelligence services of the PNP and the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) are working to monitor the purchase of firearms made by the terrorist Abu Sayyaf.
With this intelligence work, an individual who is suspected to be a supplier of high-powered firearms and ammunition valued at PHP6 million of the ASG has been arrested in San Juan City.
It was earlier reported that the seized high-powered firearms and thousands of ammunition came from the government arsenal.
Meanwhile, the AFP has confirmed that only two firearms came from the AFP, which were among those presented by the PNP last Tuesday from the firearms and ammunition seized from a gun runner.
On the other hand, the PNP is now strictly monitoring the accomplices or conspirators of the arrested gun runner who was identified as Unding Kenneth Isa.
