The Bangsamoro Community Leaders and Peace Advocates in Zamboanga City held caucus meeting at Barangay Baliwasan, Zamboanga City on July 11, 2016 and discussed various agenda related to Peace Advocacy programs and organizational strengthening.
Tirso Tahir from Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLMI) and Brother “Phix” from United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) facilitated the meeting and suggested some essential guidelines and provided valuable inputs.
This is a proper venue and time where we can thresh out issues and concerns among ourselves so that we can see other things necessary to be considered in order to meet our desired output one community leader said.
Another community leader said that sustaining the practice of transparency, inclusivity and accountability makes our organization stronger and more functional in serving in attaining its objectives.
Tahir also motivated the community leaders to be mindful of the challenges and failures and should be noted as learning lesson for it is normal in any human undertaking.
He also excerpted some wise saying of well-known Islamic scholar and thinker Ibn Taimiyyah: “This is why those who are in authority are of two groups: The scholars and the rulers. If they are upright, the people will be upright; if they are corrupt, the people will be corrupt.”
In Initiating viable program and activity in your communities, you must first assess the situation in a broader perspective, preparation of resources is one thing to be considered Brother Phix stressed.
After synthesizing the deliberated issues, the participants became clarified and enlightened. A new wave of engagement in promoting the gains of GPH-MILF peace process will be intensified by the Moro Community Leaders, peace advocate groups and other stakeholders.
