The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will host the
Planning Group of this year's Pacific Area Senior Officers Logistics Seminar
(PASOL).
PASOL is one of the biggest gathering of military logistics
delegates from 31 member states.
Col. Noel Detoyato, AFP public affairs office chief, said
PASOL Planning Group 45 will have its meeting at the Subic Bay Freeport
Complex, Olongapo
City from Wednesday until
Saturday.
The latter will prepare the agenda for the actual PASOLS
gathering later this year in Singapore ,
where they will craft the PASOLS Mutual Logistics Support Handbook.
It will also evaluate the progress of on-going initiatives,
review accomplished discussions and workshops, and review detailed arrangements
and reports for the annual meeting.
The handbook will serve as a guide for planning procedures
and standardized approaches for coordination to the member nations, which this
year will focus on humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
Given the focus of the meeting this year, member nations
unanimously requested the presentation of lessons learned from Supertyphoon
"Haiyan" (Yolanda) as applied to the preparations for the coming of
Typhoon "Hagupit".
PASOLS is a dynamic and growing organization of nations from
the Asia Pacific and Indian Ocean region.
Established in 1971, it has since grown to accommodate up to
130 delegates annually composed of star-ranked and senior logistics military
officers.
Its discussions have been non-political and has become a
forum for information sharing, regional cooperation, and logistical
inter-operability.
