The Army Artillery Regiment (AAR) has appointed a new
commanding officer in the person of Col. Erwin A. De Asis effective from March
15.
This was disclosed by Army spokesperson Col. Benjamin Hao in
a statement on Friday.
Army commander Lt. Gen. Eduardo M. Año was present in Asis' appointment ceremonies at AAR Headquarters in
De Asis is a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA)
Class of 1987. He replaced AAR
officer-in-charge Col. Agane Adriatico.
Prior to his new designation, De Asis served as Executive
Officer and Chief, Unit Training Division of the Office of the Deputy Chief of
Staff for Education and Training, OJ8, GHQ, AFP.
He was also the Group Commander of the 5th Army Training
Group, Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army. He also held staff
positions at the 3rd and 9th Infantry Divisions.
Meanwhile, his experiences in the field of artillery
included commanding the 16th Field Artillery Battalion, 6th Division Artillery
Regiment, and later on serving as the Deputy Regimental Commander of the 6th
Division Artillery Regiment.
Año underscored the significant role of the AAR units in
ending insurgency, particularly in the operations in Mindanao .

Col. Erwin A. De Asis ang mas pina-igting na pagpapalakas sa kapabilidad ng AAR at ang pagpapabuti ng war fighting competency ng
ating mga artilyero," Año said.
He also commended the performance of Adriatico who has done
an exceptional job in leading the command in accomplishing its goals.
