Two ranking commanders of the Armed Forces of the
Philippines (AFP) literally traded jobs Thursday.
This was confirmed by AFP public affairs office chief Col.
Noel Detoyato Thursday.
He identified these officials as Lt. Gen. Romeo Tanalgo,
formerly AFP vice chief-of-staff, who is now the official head of the Tarlac
City-based Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM).
Leaving his NOLCOM position for the AFP vice chief-of-staff
post is Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda.
NOLCOM's area of operations include Regions 1, 2 and 3.
Both officials are members of Philippine Military Academy
"Matikas" Class of 1983.
"Swapping of their respective assignment was easy as
both officers are of the same rank (three-star rank) and the only imperatives
are our national military objectives," Detoyato said in Filipino.
AFP national military objectives include securing the
sovereignty and integrity of national territory, and protection of maritime
interest, defeating of internal threats and support national development
security and stability, contributing to regional and international peace and
security and supporting the disaster risk reduction management effort of the
government.
"Rest assured that these movements are for the best
interest of the AFP, country and our people," Detoyato added.
