New People's Army (NPA) rebels shot dead a 43-year-old
farmer who they accused of being an informer of the military and the police
inside his house in Barangay Jagna-an, San Jacinto, Masbate
at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
A police report said victim Jason Escorel was resting inside
his house when six young-looking rebels, all armed with M-16 armalite rifles,
barged in and peppered his head and body with bullets, causing his
instantaneous death. The dissidents casually left the place after the
execution.
Relatives said Escorel had already been receiving threats on
his life from the rebels who accused him of being a military-police asset in
their village, giving information to the authorities about their activities.
The victim, however, had vehemently denied the accusation.
