FOUR civilians, including a pregnant teen, were reportedly abducted by alleged members of New People’s Army in Barangay Malamodao in Maco, Compostela  Valley last week.
 
Col. Macairog S. Alberto, commander of 1001st Infantry Brigade, identified the victims as Arlyn Camporedondo, 38; Reniel Matog, 30; Jenefe Matayab, 20, all residents of Purok 1–B of the same barangay; and AJ Tucona, 15, resident of Purok 2.
 
According to Alberto, they might be suspected by the rebels as pro-military.
 
“One of the girls there was a girlfriend of a soldier,” he said.
 
Pursuit operations were immediately conducted when the report of abduction reached the authorities. They were released by their captors on Jan. 7 at Barangay Malamodao .
 
The victims were then brought to Maco Police Station for debriefing.
 
In a separate interview, Capt. Rhyan Batchar, spokesperson of 10th Infantry Division, said they were abducted by the rebels inside their house in the cover of darkness to avoid the patroling soldiers.
 
“Allegedly, their abductors wanted to talk to them but they were released the next day,” he said.
 
Sr. Inspector Melanie Hermosisima, commander of Maco Police Station, said they will file a case against the NPA.
