Director
Atsushi Hanatani of JICA Headquarter in Tokyo , Japan and his delegation paid courtesy visit to
the Office of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) in Cotabato City
on December 1, at around 3:30 in the afternoon.
Hanatani is Director for Infrastructure and Peace Building Department of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Headquarters in

JICA-BTC, BTC Commissioners Atty. Raissa Jajuri, Froilyn Mendoza, Talib
abdulhamid Binito, and Sheikh Ibrahim Ali.
Mohagher M. Iqbal, Chairman of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission and the MILF Peace Negotiating Panel said, “It is an honor on the part of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission as well as the Commissioners who are with us this afternoon to welcome the JICA and the Japanese delegation headed by Director Atsushi Hanatani.
Dir. Hanatani said, “We would like to pay courtesy call to the leaders of peace process inMindanao . This is one of our
objectives in coming to Mindanao to
familiarize ourselves with the leaders and the happenings in area.

BTC is the key partner of JICA in the peace process in
“On March 28, 2014, JICA President Dir. Akiko Tanaka and MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad Ebrahim agreed and committed that the peace dividends should be realized swiftly and inclusively to create confidence and mutual trust among the stakeholders of the peace process through the implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIP)”.
BTC Socio-Economic Office is responsible in the overall coordination for QIP
while the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) is the implementing agency in
cooperation with JICA Cotabato Project Office (CPO).
QIP is under the Component of Improvement of Public Service Delivery of
Comprehensive Capacity Development Project for the Bangsamoro (CCDP-B) and this
is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Under QIP, twenty (20) barangays in the core and outside core territory of the Bangsamoro were provided with one of the following social infrastructures;
a) Multi-Purpose Hall
b) Renovation/expansion of school buildings or classrooms
c) Warehouses with solar dryer.
