From ABS-CBN (Nov 24): Who's behind Kabacan blasts? Police follow leads
NORTH COTABATO - Is a local "grenade-for-hire" group behind the series of grenade explosions in Kabacan town?
The local government unit, along with the Philippine National Police (PNP), has reactivated its Task Force Kabacan to bring back normalcy in the area following three explosions in different places in the town which left six people, including three minors, injured.
Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum, Cotabato provincial police director, said they have beefed up security in the municipality by adding 34 police personnel from the Regional Public Safety Battalion 12, Provincial Police Security Company, and augmentation from the 7th Infantry Battalion.
The police chief said they already have possible leads on the grenade blasts.
According to Tagum, they are also digging more on the possibility of a "grenade-for-hire" syndicate operating in the area.
This, following the arrest of a suspect carrying a grenade in Kidapawan City last Sunday.
"Yung nahuli sa Kidapawan City, prior to that, may intel reports na kasi na itong tao belongs to a group and he sells his expertise," said Tagum.
The police official appealed to locals to give any information that could help them catch the perpetrators.
The provincial government of North Cotabato and the local government of Kabacan have offered a P100,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators of the series of explosions in town.
