From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 10): PAF S-211 jet trainer up for major structural inspection

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is allocating Php40,000,000 for the major structural inspection of one of its three SIAI-Marchetti S-211 jet trainers.

The aircraft mentioned is PAF S-211 with tail number 801.

Submission and bid-opening is on Nov. 24, 9 a.m. at the PAF Procurement Center Conference Room, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

The S-211 is the PAF's sole jet-powered aircraft following the retirement of the Northrop F-5 "Tiger" jet fighter fleet in 2005.

Three S-211s remain in the PAF inventory.

It is now configured for air-to-air and air-to-ground missions pending the arrival of the first two Korea Aerospace Industries F/A-50 "Fighting Eagle" jet aircraft this December.
