Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) assistant secretary and
spokesperson Charles Jose on Friday said that there is urgent for the public to
raise its level of awareness on issues concerning the West Philippine Sea (WPS)
where China and the country is currently locked in a maritime dispute.
"It is a matter of national interest that should
concern all Filipinos," he stressed.
Jose also said the WPS issues should be disseminated
properly to the public as it has severe implications on the country's
sovereignty, territorial security, and economy.
He also said that whatever outcome of maritime row will
affect the lives of future generations.
The DFA spokesperson made this statement during the
"Communicating The Dispute on the West Philippine Sea "
forum which was held at the 4th floor auditorium of the Philippine Information
Agency (PIA) Building on Visayas
Avenue , Quezon City .
The event was sponsored by Philippine Communication Society
together with the Presidential Communications Operations Office, PIA and the
Philippine Press Institute.
