A trooper from the Western Mindanao Command was wounded
during an encounter with lawless elements in Barangay Katibpuan, Talayan town,
Maguindanao Monday morning.
Capt. Ben June Cerbo, Western Mindanao Command spokesperson,
said that soldiers from Joint Task Force Central were conducting law
enforcement operations when they encountered the bandits at 5: 37 a.m.
A short firefight ensued and led to the wounding of one
trooper with an undetermined number of the lawless elements being hit in the
fray.
The wounded soldier was immediately evacuated to Camp Siongco
Station Hospital
and later transferred to Notre
Dame Hospital
Clearing operations conducted by troops at around 6 a.m. in
the area further resulted in the recovery of a firearm and a magazine with four
live rounds of ammunition.
