PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, May 4 (PNA) -– The Army’s 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division is celebrating its 79th founding anniversary Tuesday with simple but meaningful rites.

Lt. Col. Audie Mongao, 1st Infantry Division public affairs officer, said the celebration will start with an interfaith prayer.

It will be followed by wreath-laying, arrival honors and parade in review, awarding ceremony and inauguration of projects.

Mongao said the celebration’s guest of honor is Maj. Gen. Demosthenes Santillan, the vice commander of the Philippine Army.

Mongao said that a series of activities was also held starting on April 23 in line with the founding anniversary of the command.

These activities include a medical and dental outreach mission, bloodletting, “Operation Tuli” or circumcision and harelip operations that benefited mostly indigent residents within the area of responsibility of the command.

Mongao said that sports fest and fun games were also held from April 30 to May 4 at the headquarters of the 1st Infantry Division.

He said there will be also Testimonial Golf Tournament Tuesday afternoon and dinner and socials in the evening.

Invited to attend Tuesday’s event are local government executives from the areas covered by the 1st Infantry Division command.
