TUNGAWAN,
Zamboanga Sibugay – To capacitate the Citizen Armed Force
Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary of the 6th Special Forces Battalion,
Philippine Army (PA), a two-day livelihood training and seminar was recently
conducted here by the municipal government through its Municipal Environment
and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and the Municipal Agriculturist
Office.
Capt. Richard P. Villaflor, civil military operations officer said the
activity was focused mainly on solid waste management, preservation and
protection of marine sanctuary, and agricultural production.

Caracol described the occasion as a “manifestation of a true convergence of
efforts” to make Tungawan a better and peaceful place to live in.
“The training
was designed to provide more livelihood capacity activities not only for the
people of Tungawan but also to CAA members as well,” Caracol added.
Lt. Col.
Dante T. Bermillo, acting commanding officer of the 6th SF Battalion expressed
his gratitude to the local government for extending its support to the said
training, which sought to improve the CAFGU’s living condition by making them
productive when they are off-duty.
CAFGUs are the AFP’s force multipliers in the
community. Bermillo also urged the participants to be involved in more productive
livelihood activities.
He even emphasized the unit’s task in providing effective
supervision over the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) not only in Tungawan town but
also in the entire of Zamboanga Peninsula region except for Zamboanga del Sur,
which belongs to the 1st Infantry Tabak Division.
“I encourage everyone to work
hand in hand to promote the ‘Bayanihan’ spirit for the protection of the people
and the community,” he concluded.
