Police in Panaon town in Misamic Occidental arrested a man suspected to be a follower of Malaysian terrorist Marwan and who is believed to be behind bombings in Mindanao in 2006 and 2007.
According to Northern Mindanao Regional Director C/Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., police caught Abdulmalik Sali, an alleged member of the Al-Khobar Group, at a checkpoint along the national highway in Panaon.
Al-Khobar is a group under an umbrella organization led by Marwan — an alias used by Zulkifli bin Hir, whom authorities say was killed in a police operation in Maguindanao in January.

Sali was arrested by the town police, the Misamis provincial police, and Special Project Mindanao Khilafa Islamiya on warrants for multiple murder, multiple frustrated murder, and multiple attempted murder.
Sali is believed to be behind bombings in Kidapawan City, Cotabato and Digos City, Davao del Sur in 2006 and 2007 "wherein numerous lives were lost".
