From the Mindanao Times (Mar 10): Rebel slain in operation
A MEMBER of the New People’s Army was killed when soldiers from the 10th Scout Ranger Battalion were conducting a pursuit operation after a group that burned equipment in Sitio Kipolot, Brgy. Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon Sunday.
The military report said soldiers were pursuing the rebels which led to a 30-minute gunbattle that resulted in the death of the rebel.
Col Jess Alvarez, commander of 403rd Brigade based in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, said the soldiers were verifying the report about the burning of the equipment when the chanced upon the armed group.
The military also seized two M16 rifle, an AK 47, a hand-held radio and ammunition.
Alvarez said government agencies were still looking for the family of the dead rebel which he did not identify.
