The
People’s Organizations from Barangay Koronadal Proper, Polomolok, South Cotabato look forward for better income with the
recent livelihood support they received from Programme for Local Economic
Development through Enlightened Governance and Grassroots Empowerment (PLEDGE)
implemented by Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA).
After
series of community consultation and workshops in line with the guidelines from
PLEDGE, the POs’ finally obtained the materials and equipment they need to
start up their livelihood activities.
For the PO engaged in catering services and food processing,
various cooking materials were turned over from PLEDGE.
The program
also provided a set of farm equipment were given to the group who chose to
increase rice and corn production.
Another PO engaged in banana processing enterprise received set
of equipment that includes oven, blender, mixers and other pertinent materials.
With the
International Labor Organization as the Trust Fund Recipient, PLEDGE is in
pilot implementation at Koronadal Proper.
The program
is the economic and livelihood component of Mindanao Trust Fund Reconstruction
and Development Program (MTFRDP) administered by the World Bank.
It is
supported by international donors like the European Union (EU), DFAT Australia (then
AusAID), Canadian International Development Agency, New Zealand Aid for
International Development, Sweden International Development Agency, United
States and the World Bank.
The program
aims to contribute to confidence and peace building efforts through local
economic development and sustainable livelihood creation in conflict affected
areas in Mindanao . (With report from BDA)
