Philippine Army (PA) spokesperson Lt. Col. Noel Detoyato
assured the public that no active duty personnel are involved in coup plots,
adding that these troopers are too busy attending to their constitutional
mandate, which is to protect the people and country from all forms of internal
and external threats.
"No active duty Army personnel (officers and enlisted)
are involved in these coup plots," Detoyato said.
And besides, joining coup plots or any destabilization
attempt is not part of the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR), which the troops
are now busy with, he said.
The ATR aims to develop capabilities needed to support the
Philippine Development Plan, Philippine Defense Reform, Armed Forces of the
Philippines Transformation Roadmap and Internal Peace and Security Plan
"Bayanihan".
"It (ATR) embodies the Army's sincere commitment to
pursue genuine reform and transformation founded on good governance and
performance excellence," Army commander Lt. Gen. Hernando DCA Iriberri
said.
He also said that the ATR promotes an Army that focuses on
the institution rather than personalities, consider long-term strategies and
approaches all matters from a systems perspectives to address interconnected
priorities than single issues.
The ATR also seeks for the Philippine Army (PA) to become a
"world class Army by 2028."
Iriberri was pleased to point out that the Army Governance
and Strategy Management Office was established in 2012 to oversee and manage
the implementation of the ATR.
The strategy is being cascaded down to the levels of units,
offices, and individuals and subsidiary performance scorecards being aligned
with that of the enterprise, he added.
"This is being done through various projects and
activities, framework systems and processes that it designed to institutionalize
the Performance Governance System.
Under the ATR, the PA revised and simplified the core values
into three most essential, enduring, and elemental set of values that truly
represent the organization, namely:
1.Honor, which is attributed to self-worth, personal dignity,
integrity, and discipline;
2.Patriotism, which resonates as love of country and
manifests as loyalty, courage, and allegianceto the constitution; and
3.Duty, which is expressed through professional-ism,
excellence, resourcefulness, dynamism, dedication, and commitment to sworn duty.
