In line with its efforts to increase the fighting
proficiency of its armored and mechanized units, the Maguindanao-based 6th
Infantry Division announced on Monday that it will be conducting a series of
field exercises from Feb. 10 to 15 at Barangay Dimapatoy, Datu Odin Sinsuat,
Maguindanao.
Capt. Jo-ann Petinglay, 6th Infantry Division spokesperson,
said in a text message to the Philippine News Agency that the maneuvers aim to
improve the proficiency of personnel assigned to armored units.
She clarified that these field exercises have nothing to do
with the Jan. 25 incident in Mamasapano, Maguindanao which resulted in the
death of 44 Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) members
and Jemaah Islamiah terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir, alias Marwan.
Petinglay said that their 14 Mechanized Infantry Company
will be participating in the five-day activity which involves conduct of
practical exercises on combat driving of armored vehicles, battle drills on
mechanized infantry operation and field training exercises.
