DepEd, USAID sign bilateral assistance deal on Friday

From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 29): DepEd, USAID sign bilateral assistance deal on Friday

The Department of Education (DepEd) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will conduct a Ceremonial Signing of the Bilateral Assistance Agreement for Basic Education on Jan. 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.

This is a five-year agreement that pledges approximately Php 580 million or (USD 12.9 million) assistance for basic education programs throughout the Philippines.

Expected to be present during the signing and guests as well are DepEd Secretary Armin A. Luistro and Undersecretary Mario A. Deriquito.

Representing the USAID Mission are Director Gloria D. Steele, Education Office Director Robert Burch- USAID, the Deputy Chief of Mission Brian L. Goldbeck- U.S. Embassy in Manila.

Representatives from the DepEd, partners and other stakeholders will also participate as witnesses to the historic signing.
