Central Command head visits wake of officer killed in unprovoked rebel attack in Compostela Valley

From the Philippine News Agency (Jan 9): Central Command head visits wake of officer killed in unprovoked rebel attack in Compostela Valley

Central Command head Lt. Gen. Nicanor Vivar visited the wake of 1st Lt. Ronald Bautista in Inabanga, Bohol, to pay his respect to the fallen officer Friday.

Bautista, a native of Inabanga, Bohol and also a member of Philippine Military Academy “Laon Laab” Class of 2011, was killed by a rebel ambush last Dec. 29 in Compostela Valley while enroute (to Bohol) to be with his family for the New Year’s celebration.

In an interview, two of his siblings, Ruben, 24, and Angemar, 21, expressed their intentions of joining the Armed Forces as officers or enlisted personnel in either of the three branches of service.

Bautista's 16-year-old sister, Quinne Rose, also expressed her desire of following the footsteps of her late brother in going to PMA.

She is going to take the next PMA entrance exams this year.

The fallen officer will be interred this Jan. 10 in Inabanga, Bohol.

The family declined the offer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to bury the late officer at the Libingan ng mga Bayani because they wanted to be closer to him.
