ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY – Security forces arrested an Abu Sayyaf member wanted for the series of kidnappings in southern Philippines, police said Sunday.
Police said Bon Sarapbil was arrested in the town of Imelda after tracking him down on a village. Sarapbil is facing of criminal charges and was involved in many kidnappings since 2009 in Basilan and other provinces nearby.

Sarapbil also worked for various Abu Sayyaf leaders and Moro Islamic Liberation Front commanders and other gangs in the past, mostly in ransom kidnappings.

It was unknown whether Sarapbil was planning new kidnappings in the province or just hiding from authorities.

Police said Sarapbil is currently being interrogated in Zamboanga City.
