2 explosions rock North Cotabato

From Rappler (Oct 10): 2 explosions rock North Cotabato

Authorities are still conducting post-blast investigation to identify the perpetrators and the motive behind the bombings

A couple of explosions jolted two separate towns in North Cotabato on Friday evening, October 10, the provincial government said.

Initial reports said an explosion hit the public market area of Libungan town at around 9:05 in the evening.

The military said the explosive device was planted between two trucks parked at a gas station in the Poblacion village of Libungan.

No casualties were reported in the incident, but both vehicles were damaged by the explosion.

Meanwhile, another suspected improvised explosive device was recovered inside the University of Southern Mindanao in Kabacan town minutes after the first explosion.

A K9 team reportedly responded and identified the package as a positive explosive, prompting authorities to respond for its safe detonation.

Authorities are still conducting post-blast investigation to identify the perpetrators and the motive behind the bombings.

Last Wednesday evening, 2 churchgoers were killed while 4 others were wounded after motorcycle-riding gunmen fired a 40-millimeter round from a grenade launcher inside a UCCP church in Pikit, North Cotabato.
