Patrimonio, Assistant Division Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (ID) of
the Philippine Army to Negrenses when he delivered his message during
a send off ceremony for the troops of 79th IB at Dumaguete Airport
The soldiers of the 79th IB will temporary leave the
province to undergo a Battalion of Excellence (BOE) in Fort Magsaysay
The training aims to strengthen and improve the
battalion’s operational capability to make them more effective in performing
their duties in the internal peace and security operations in their assigned
areas.
“The 79th IB, being a consistent top performing battalion of
the division was given the privilege to undergo the BOE training,” Patrimonio
said. “This is an opportunity to upgrade the organizational and individual
equipment and uniform of our personnel,” he added.
Before they left this morning, Negros Oriental Gov. Roel R.
Degamo handed over a certificate of recognition to Lt. Col. Harold Anthony
Pascua, the commanding officer of 79th IB for the services they rendered in the
province.
In his message, Gov. Degamo lauded the courageous men in
uniform for their efforts in helping the province attain a conflict manageable
and development ready province.
“As chief executive of the province, I have seen how these
men worked in order to attain true peace for the development of the province,”
Gov. Degamo said in local dialect.
Gov. Degamo wishes well for these soldiers as they go
through re-training outside Negros Oriental.
Meanwhile, local leaders here assured that everything is in
place to sustain the present security status of the province.
Patrimonio said the 20th IB from Samar
will replace the 79th IB while they are on training in Nueva Ecija.
It can be recalled that these soldiers were deployed in
Negros Oriental last May 28 after also completing BOE training.
The soldiers of the 79th IB are expected to come back in
their areas of assignment in the latter part of the year.
“We will temporary leave for now to enhance our capabilities
but we will return and when we get back you can expect a stronger 79th IB,
ready to serve you and may we continue our partnership to attain true peace in
Negros Oriental,” Lt. Col. Pascua said.
Two C-130 aircraft from the Philippine Air Force arrived at Dumaguete Port
this morning to fetch the soldiers and take them to Manila
