NPA Eastern Misamis Oriental - North Eastern Bukidnon Sub-regional Operations Command
One soldier was killed while another was wounded when 8th IB-PA troops were harassed by a unit of the New People’s Army under the Eastern Misamis Oriental-Northeastern Bukidnon Sub-regional Command. The attack was launched on July 23, 2014, at around 10 AM in Km. 30, Brgy. Calabugao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.
The Red fighters met the combat operation of an 8th IB platoon with a harassment operation in return for its fascist crimes against the people. The 4th ID spokesperson confirmed that one among them was killed, but denied that another was wounded, while citing their own soldiers’ blood as evidence that the NPA also suffered casualties, which is certainly not the case, as the Red fighters were able to safely withdrew after the attack.
The 8th IB is actively pursuing and chasing off NPA units in the area to pave the way for the entry of landgrabbing plantations, as well as large-scale mining interests that have been eyeing the barrios of Impasug-ong for some time. With local government support, the 8th IB also carries out relentless psywar operations in these barrios under the pretext of “Hatud Serbisyo.”
The NPA will continue to protect the lands, environment and the people. This is a task for the people’s army, in contrast to the AFP’s task which is to protect the interests of foreign and local ruling classes.
