From the Philippine News Agency (Jul 15): 100 soldiers, 10 vehicles to be deployed for HADR missions in NCR

With Metro Manila threatened by Typhoon "Glenda", the 7th Civil Relations Group announced that it is deploying 100 soldiers and 10 vehicles to help in possible humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions should the need arises.

"The CRG (Civil Relations Group) is (also) tasked on information dissemination and monitoring of the event. We are part of the operating units of the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR) which are alerted for this," unit commander Lt. Col. Harold Cabunoc said.

He added that their disaster response units are JTF-NCR include the Army's Search-and-Rescue Unit, the Rescue Teams of Civil Military Affairs Brigade, 51st Engineering Brigade and the naval units as well.

Cabuboc said that one officer was designated as liaison officer of the JTF-NCR to Metro Manila Development Authorityfor easier coordination during rescue efforts.

He added that JTF-NCR commander Brig. Gen. Manuel Gonzales has directed all disaster response units under his command to prepositioned themselves strategic areas where flooding normally occurs.
