REMIDIOS TRINIDAD ROMUALDEZ, Agusan del Norte – The regional command of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) on Tuesday ordered a manhunt against 30 suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels who allegedly burned heavy equipment and destroyed some 2,000 rubber trees at barangays Tagbongabong and San Antonio, in Remedios Trinidad Romualdez town, Agusan del Norte Monday.

Police Inspector Rene Sarmiento, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez chief of police, was also ordered by the regional command of PRO 13 to conduct an investigation to identify the culprits and their motive.

Supt. Romaldo Bayting, regional spokesman of PRO 13, said the perpetrators were believed to be members of guerilla-Front Committee 21 of the CPP-NPA Northeastern Mindanao Party Committee (NEMPC).

The cost of damage still has to be determined.
