The Philippine Army on Friday awarded members its shooting team who dominated the recently concluded Australian Armies Skill at Arms Meet (AASAM) 2014 held at the Combined Arms Training Center, Puckapunyal Military Area, Victoria, Australia from April 28 to May 18.

The 18 members of the team were conferred with Military Merit Medals during a simple awarding ceremony at the Training and Doctrine Command Headquarters in Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac last Friday.

A novelty shoot and fun shoot games were also conducted after the program.

The PA marksmen also bested 14 other teams from Australia, Brunei, New Zealand, United States, United Kingdom, Tonga, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor, Canada, and France during the 2014 AASAM.

The team received the Commander-in-Chief Trophy, the most coveted trophy in the competition, after successfully defending their place in the Team Champion Shot Match.

The 18-man contingent, headed by Lt. Col. Palmer M. Parungao also won a total of 14 gold medals, 56 silver medals and two bronze medals in the AASAM team matches.

This most recent championship indicated that the PA Shooting Team possesses a world-class skill at arms.

True to its vision of becoming a world-class Army that is a source of national pride, the PA is transforming to be the best.(
