From the Philippine News Agency (Feb 14): 10 soldiers, 7 CAFGU men hurt in Negros Occidental road accident

Ten government soldiers and seven para-military personnel were injured in a road accident on their way to a community outreach activity in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

Supt. Noel Mana-ay, chief of Sipalay City Police Station, said injured were 10 Army soldiers, including three officers, and seven members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU).

Their names were not yet available as of press time.

They are treated at the Sipalay City Health Office, but there were no serious injuries reported, Mana-ay said.

The soldiers belong to the 47th Infantry Battalion while the seven para-military personnel are under the supervision of the 12th Infantry (CADRE) Battalion deployed in Sipalay City.

Mana-ay said two of the victims were transferred to hospitals either in Kabankalan City or Bacolod City.

According to police investigation, the Army soldiers and CAFGU members were traveling towards Barangay Maricalum when their truck malfunctioned.

The driver applied a brake, but the vehicle rolled over while negotiating a curve along Sitio Anda, Barangay Maricalum.
