BRP Alcaraz now in Leyte for humanitarian mission

From the Philippine News Agency (Nov 25): BRP Alcaraz now in Leyte for humanitarian mission
 
BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF 16) is now on its first-ever humanitarian mission helping areas in Eastern Visayas that have been devastated by super typhoon Yolanda.

BRP Alcaraz is currently berthing at the Leyte Gulf carrying around 123.7 tons of assorted food and non-food items donated by various government agencies and private organizations.

Also on board are engineering and construction personnel of the Philippine Navy for the Naval Task Group (NTG) “Tulong Visayas” who will augment in various relief efforts to include repair and rehabilitation works.

The country’s latest warship was christened and commissioned last week. Thereafter, it sailed towards Leyte for its first-ever humanitarian assistance and disaster operations.

Aside from Alcaraz, also anchoring at the Leyte Gulf is the BRP Gregorio del Pilar loaded with relief goods and engineering and construction materials for displaced victims of Yolanda.
