The Capiz-based 3rd Infantry Division announced that a North Cotabato native has topped its rigid and demanding six month Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) training recently at Camp Gen. Macario Peralta Jr. in Jamidan, Capiz.

Ericson C. Catis from Barangay Malibatuan, Arakan, North Cotabato topped this year’s training.

He has a general point average of 90.49 percent in all evaluated subjects both academic and non-academic.

Catis received the Commander, 3rd Infantry Division Award for graduating number one in his class besting 159 other candidate soldiers in the training.

“Your training does not stop here. We should continue to enhance and develop on our skills and capabilities to best perform our mandate in serving the people and securing the land as we intensify our efforts in implementing the AFP Internal Peace and Security Plan Bayanihan. I further urge you to focus on your job and adhere to and internalize the Human Rights, the International Humanitarian Law and the Rule of Law,” 3rd Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Aurelio Baladad said.

He said these new soldiers will be immediately assigned in the different battalions in Panay and Negros Islands to perform peace and development works in the countryside.

The prospective troopers were also taught on Jungle Warfare Mountain Operation Course (JWMOC).
