Fake IEDs found in University of Southern Mindanao

From the Philippine News Agency (Oct 24): Fake IEDs found in University of Southern Mindanao

Authorities have deployed explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams to the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) in Barangay Poblacion, Kabacan town, Cotabato Thursday after suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found at its premises Thursday morning.

Capt. Antonio Bulao, 602nd Infantry Brigade civil-military operations officer, said that this took place around 9:15 a.m. after USM security guards found three unattended boxes with wires seen hanging at the library, faculty office and office of student affairs.

Responding EOD teams quickly responded to the scene and found out that the suspected IEDs were only a hoax.

Investigations are now underway to determine the suspects behind the prank.
