Talks underway for another Hamilton-class cutter

From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 6): Talks underway for another Hamilton-class cutter

Talks are now underway between US and the Philippines regarding the possible acquisition of another Hamilton-class cutter which will be used to beef up the country's fleet.

Philippine Navy (PN) flag-officer-in-charge Vice Admiral Jose Luis Alano confirmed this but declined to comment on the progress of the talks.

"It's beyond our level," he stated, adding that negotiations are being conducted by ranking defense officials.

Earlier, reports coming from the United States revealed that the USGC Rush, the sister ship of BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PF-15) and BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16), will be decommissioned within the year and sold again to the Philippines as "excess defense articles".
