From the Philippine News Agency (Aug 26): 2 Marines hurt in Palawan ambush

Two Marines were hurt after their truck was fired upon by suspected New People's Army (NPA) fighters in Sitio Ebangley, Barangay Abongan, Taytay town, Palawan Monday morning.

Senior Supt. Atanacio Macalan, Palawan Provincial Police Office head, said the wounded personnel are all members of the Marine Battalion Land Team-4.

He identified the wounded Marines as 1st Lt. Rodelito Ramos and Pfc. Marvin Montebo.

Macalan said two wounded men and other members of the Marine unit were aboard a 6x6 truck and headed for Barangay Bato, Taytay when the suspected rebels detonated a suspected landmine before firing into the vehicle around 9:30 a.m.

Despite sustaining some casualties, the Marines retaliated and managed to repulse their attackers.

The wounded personnel were immediately brought to the Roxas Medical Center for treatment.
