Joint
operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division(RID) and Lingig Municipal
Police Station in Lingig town, Surigao del Sur on Friday evening arrested a
member of the New People’s Army (NPA)also tagged as the region’s 15th “most
wanted” person.
Belated
reports reaching the regional police headquarters here, from Surigao del Sur
Police Provincial Office identified the suspect as Elpedio D. Gomez, alias
“Rambo” who was collared by the policemen at Sitio Mabaho, Purok 2, Brgy.
Mahayahay, Lingig in the said province 8:45 p.m. Friday after 12 years of
hiding.
Gomez
has a pending arrest warrant for “Double Murder with Frustrated Murder”
docketed under Criminal Case No. 4603 at the sala of Hon. Judge Ermelindo Andal
of RTC Branch 6, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. He carries a monetary reward of P
75,000.00 under DILG Circular No. 2002-39 dated March 13, 2012.
Gomez
was known to be a NPA member designated as the second secretary from 1994 until
2004. He is now in the custody of the RID for documentation and proper
disposition.
