American pastor laments ‘military harassment’ in Mindanao disaster areas

From the Philippine Daily Inquirer (Jul 18): American pastor laments ‘military harassment’ in Mindanao disaster areas
DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Americans joining a four-day international solidarity mission to disaster areas in Mindanao said they were appalled by the “military harassment” suffered by people even in communities worst-hit by Typhoon Pablo last December.

The Rev. Frank Wulf, a pastor of the United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, California, said they would pressure the US government to stop sending military aid to the Armed Forces of the Philippines because they observed that civilians were being made to suffer in communities with a heavy presence of soldiers.

  1. I could be wrong but it looks like CPP front group propaganda activity.

These "international solidarity missions" are often sponsored by CPP front organizations with the express purpose of generating propaganda that discredits the Philippine government and military.

Members of these so-called solidarity missions are often fellow Maoists or anti-imperialists who tow the same ideological/political line as the sponsoring organizations.

CPP front organizations like to refer to any Philippine military presence in an NPA controlled or contested area as "militarization" in an attempt to discredit the AFP. In CPP front group propaganda, harassment of civilians is an inherent part of the militarization process.
