No Holy Week ceasefire - AFP chief

From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 25): No Holy Week ceasefire - AFP chief

Armed Forces chief-of-staff Gen. Emmanuel Bautista Monday announced there are no plans for the military to implement a ceasefire this Holy Week.

"We only declare a ceasefire during the Christmas Season and for Holy Week there is none," he added.

Bautista also stated that all AFP units will be on alert even when observing the Lenten Season.

"(They will be on alert) even when praying," the AFP chief stressed.

Bautista stated that this posture is necessary so that the rebels will not take advantage of the holidays and conduct sneak attacks on military installations and units.
