From the MILF Website (Mar 12): Business support groups move to help in the Bangsamoro development
Mindanao-based business support groups Mindanao Business Council (MBC) and Muslim Business Forum (MBF) collaborate to develop a project proposal to realize the conduct of the Needs Assessment for the Bangsamoro geared to support in the economic development of the proposed Bangsamoro territory enshrined in the Framework Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB).
MBF and MBC met on March 3, 2013 in General Santos City for a brainstorming session to know what activities they can initiate that will strengthen the economy of the Bangsamoro communities.
The two groups believe that it is Mindanaoans who should take the first steps to help the Bangsamoro communities.
Among the initiatives they identified that should be conducted is the Needs Assessment of the Bangsamoro through a research in order to know the potential resources of the communities and the training needs of the manpower considering the possible engagement of the Bangsamoro communities into industrial development if the New Political Entity (NPE) will be established. The NPE will be called “Bangsamoro.”
The FAB that was signed in Malacanang on October 15, 2012 will facilitate the creation of NPE.
The two organizations also want to have basic data of the Bangsamoro communities for possible matching with the business sectors in the future.
Engr. Fatima Suib, chairperson of MBF, said the interventions shall include inventory of assets, values transformation training, educational exposures, community enterprise development trainings, tapping of Halal financing firms, and relevant trainings towards the development of Halal industry.
She said they eye the World Bank for financial assistance and the international Alert, an international Non-Government Organization, for technical support.
