Former rebels in Negros Occidental get livelihood assistance

From the Philippine News Agency (Mar 21): Former rebels in Negros Occidental get livelihood assistance

Fifteen rebel returnees received livelihood assistance from the provincial government in a simple turnover ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol here Wednesday.

The assistance worth P145,338 comprised of 400 heads of free range chicken, 15 heads of piglets, three bags of hog grower feeds and three bags of chick booster mash.

Each of them also received a pair of plastic feeder and water container, veterinary drugs, t-shirts, caps, umbrellas and cash incentives of P5,000.

Gov. Alfredo G. MaraƱon, Jr. welcomed the former rebels to the mainstream of society and told them that the provincial government is always ready to assist them in their livelihood projects.

He also advised them to prioritize the education of their children because that is the best way to combat poverty.

He also announced that all rebel returnees will be enrolled in Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP), a province-run insurance system.
